Recital Participation
Studio recitals are considered an extension of each student's music education and participation is expected of all students.
Most beginners are ready to perform after approximately 3–6 months of lessons, although readiness is determined by the teacher.
How Students Can Prepare
In the weeks leading up to a recital, students should prepare for performance by completing at least one of the following:
-
Attend the scheduled Performance Group Class.
-
Perform their recital piece from memory for family or friends.
-
Record themselves performing their recital piece (from memory) from beginning to end.
These practice performances build confidence, develop performance skills, and help students learn to recover from mistakes.
Performance Eligibility
Students are expected to prepare and practice consistently throughout the semester. If a student is not adequately prepared, the teacher may determine they are not yet ready to perform and encourage participation in the next recital instead. This decision is made to support the student's confidence and ensure a positive recital experience.
When to Arrive
Please arrive 15 minutes before the recital begins unless otherwise communicated.
Recital Attire
Students should dress appropriately for each recital to help create a polished performance atmosphere.
Summer Recital
Semi-Formal
Students should wear summer semi-formal attire. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are encouraged to help students stay comfortable while performing.
Fall & Spring Recitals

These are the two primary recitals of the year. Because of their significance, students should wear formal recital attire appropriate for a traditional concert setting.

Reception & What to Bring

Families are encouraged to invite friends and extended family to support their student. Thank you for helping create a welcoming and memorable experience for our students & studio community!
